Noella Animation Inc. is a production company that can work and collaborate in many different ways.
As a full-service production company, we can take, bid and execute on a brief using our own stop motion studio and resources.
These services include: A specially equipped stop motion studio equipped with our own motion control and camera.
Utilizing DragonFrame software we can design and execute sequences from a single shot to a full project through post production if needed. Projects like these can be anything from an animated GIF to a full commercial spot.
Watch Our Reel
We can be part of an overall production where we can film in your environment, bringing both stop motion expertise and our motion control rig.
We can even use your camera (DSLR) or ours.
If the sequence or shot does not need motion control, then we can utilize our DragonFrame-equipped workstation connected to your camera. Noella will animate the sequence in your environment and deliver the finished sequence as a series of RAW files.
Part of our skillset is the design, construction and execution of miniature sets and environments.
Using paper, wire, clay and whatever we can get our hands on! We create simple yet beautiful sets to create compelling environments.
We can also create the props, characters and rigs that are going to be animated
Mix it Up!
We often shoot on green screen for more flexibility and integrate background in post production using composition.
Technical Notes
Our Motion control rig can perform frame-accurate moves involving pan, tilt, focus, turntable and track. The move is simply programmed through DragonFrame and can be previewed and even filmed in real-time. Since the move is repeatable, we can film clean background passes and even VFX that require multiple passes. If more complex MoCon is required, we can rent appropriate rigs.
Finishing through post. This can include basic sequence cleanup to full assembly of the piece with color-correction, graphics, audio etc. Our sequences are a series of stills-resolution RAW files that enables tremendous flexibility in post and color correction.
Noella is also a renowned 2D traditional animator. If your project requires integrated 2D elements or even a full 2D-designed and executed sequence, you can check out Noella’s 2D reel to see if her unique style would be a good fit.
Noella was the Lead animator on the award wining film “the Sea is Blue” which used 3d to create the facial expressions while all characters and sets were done in traditional stop motion. For more examples and insight on her work check out her individual project pages.
WHY STOP MOTION?
While computer-generated imagery (CGI) dominates the world of animation, stop motion offers an experience more authentic and tangible. This method of animation has been used for over a century, and its unique qualities continue to captivate audiences of all ages.
A key advantage of stop-motion animation is its tactile and physical nature. We use real-world objects and puppets. This not only gives the animations a sense of depth and texture, but it also allows for a level of creativity and improvisation that is impossible to achieve with CGI. Thus we imbue our creations with a sense of personality and charm that is often lost in CGI. The imperfections and quirks of the physical world add a human touch to the animations, making them feel more relatable and endearing.
Finally, stop-motion animation has a rich history and legacy that continues to inspire animators and filmmakers today. It is no wonder that Del Torro’s stop motion Pinocchio beat out all the other animated films at the Academy Awards this year.
So if you’re looking for an alternative to the sleek and soulless world of CGI, consider traditional stop-motion animation. Its tactile nature, creative possibilities, and rich history make it a truly unique and
captivating art form.
